I don't like making desserts because there is little room for creativity, in the sense that one must follow directions to the letter or the dessert usually fails which does not align with my usual excitable splash of this, pinch of that method of cooking.
Still, I have been making this buttermilk panna cotta for years - it is a great warm weather dessert and very versatile as it takes to pretty much any summer fruit topping of which you can think. It sets with exactly the right amount of jiggle. The only small quibble that I have is that it is slightly too sweet for my taste and I do reduce the sugar and use five tablespoons instead of seven (and could probably reduce it a bit more.)
I topped this with blackberries and raspberries which I had tossed in a little white Lillet. A bit of orange liqueur would work as well, as would a few drops of vanilla or a squirt of citrus of some kind.
